After running around for two months it is time for me to start settling in and getting used to living in Canada. I am now back on Vancouver Island living in Comox, a small sleepy town where everyone is friendly and things don’t happen in a rush. It’s time for me to start looking for work, whatever that may be because I am drawing a blank on what direction to take next. I seem to know a few things I don’t want to do… but nothing that really garbs me, which is something I have felt for a while now.
Work aside there is lots to do here, I have been keeping up my running and found a great set of local mountain bike trails which make for excellent trail runs. I also met up with Naomi, a local couch surfer and we went for a walk around Goose Spit – stopping at a wooden shelter made on the beach. I had heard this was a great place to watch the sun set and it did not disappoint. It’s nice hanging out with the locals, Naomi has also spent alot of time in the UK so we have been reminiscing about the differences of back home. Good and bad.

A few days ago during a stroll at Elk Falls near Campbell River we wandered into another bear on the path ahead. This one was a little bigger so we backed off – but I had time to take a quick picture!
Second bear sighting!
The weather has started to turn for the first time since I have been here, it’s now getting chilly and the rain has started. Winter is coming!
I hope you are having more success with job-hunting. You are obviously good at finding bears. love, Grandma
