I had been working on the fascia boards on-and-off for a while now. Once I finished cutting them to size and got them test fitted, I then had to remove all of the boards in order to sand them down, especially the rough cut ends.

The first job after the break was to continue building the utility box on the tongue of the trailer. I finished off the framing, securing it to the house and then moved on to sheathing it. For this I used all scrap pieces of plywood, which I have in abundance. I also applied several coats of sealant to the bottom of the box to give it a little moisture protection.

I have just had nearly four weeks off of the house build, having given myself a much needed break. I really had to think back to what I did in the last week before my break, which this update covers. For this reason, it is a little brief!

It's been a busy couple of weeks and the house is really starting to take shape. Watch a time lapse to see what I have been up to:
Day 36 & 37
I started the week by finishing off some smaller jobs including some finishing touches to a couple of rafters and tightening up the threaded rods. Once the threaded rods were tight (but not not too tight) I used thread lock to glue the bolt at the top. This will prevent it from coming loose when it is encased within the wall. Should the rod ever loosen, I can re-tighten from underneath the trailer.

Fresh from two whole days off (a first since starting the build!) I felt better prepared to start work on the roof. This week is all about the roof.

Day 31
Today was very much a production line. I needed to make lots of rafters, so instead of making them one-by-one I decided to apply one step to each rafter at a time. This way I was doing one job over and over and didn't have to change my setup.

All of a sudden the build has got very tall, which amongst other things means lots of trips up and down ladders. The inclusion of angles has also caused much head scratching. Despite this, some great progress was made this week.
I also placed my window and door orders, which is a pretty big deal in any house build. I worked with a local company and after many trips and quotes I ordered the custom windows and doors that I have painstakingly sized and positioned. I'm sure it will all be fine when they arrive in 2-3 weeks.
