Canada Here I Come

Goodbye UK! See you again soon. After a couple of months of organising and running around I am finally on my way to Canada. I am writing this on the train to Gatwick airport. From there I fly direct to Vancouver, then hop on a Greyhound and a ferry to Vamcouver Island where I will meet up with Richard and Karina. After being so busy it is strange to sit still! Cardiff peoples at my leaving Ploughmans - going to miss you all! As I prepare to leave I have realised two things 1/ I am not very good at saying goodbye to the people I care about 2/ the fact I am moving to Canada REALLY hasn't

Off to Canada for a While

I have recently decided to move to Canada for a while. I say “a while” because i'm not exactly sure how long I will be there for, or what I will be doing... there isn't much of a plan! I have wanted to live abroad for quiet some time now – pretty much since I first started travelling. I spent a couple of weeks in Canada early last year and it has been at the top of my list of places to return to ever since. After an amazing two weeks I was left feeling that I had to return there to soak up more of what the country has to offer. Though for me this trip isn't just about exploring Canada

Pen y Fan, Brecon Beacons

On my way to Brecon to see my sister Ruth this week I decided to wander up Pen y Fan and make the most of the nice weather while it is still with us. Luckily this is made really easy by the bus going right past Storey Arms which sits at the foot of the mountain. Forgetting it was the easter holiday I was slightly surprised to see other walkers on the mountain - I thought I was going to have it all to myself! The weather held and the views were stunning. I descended via a different route which was new to me and I arrived at Storey Arms just as the bus (which run every one to two hours)

Llantwit Major to Monknash

I start a new part time job next week, while I have plenty of other things to be filling my days with I thought I would make the most of the lovely weather and go for a wander. The plan was to get the train to Llantwit Major and walk to Monknash (specifically the Plough and Harrow) and then catch a bus/train home. The sun was shining and having done the walk a few times before I decided to catch up on some Adam and Joe podcasts while I walked - laughing out loud to myself and taking in the scenery. Unfortunately being a small village Monknash does not have a cash machine so not only

Siem Reap, Cambodia then home

Back in the UK safely now and I wanted to upload some photos of Siem Reap to complete my journey. I spent the day cycling around the huge site not quiet believing what I was seeing. The temples are magnificent though the photos don't do them justice. The cycle back to Siem Reap from the temples in the afternoon sun was insanely hot but the thought of an ice cold $0.50 beer waiting for me kept me going! I had a great taste of Asia and thanks to everyone who has been keeping up with the blog and for keeping in touch. I look forward to seeing you all soon.

Siem Reap, Cambodia

From Laos I made the rather long bus journey to Siem Reap in Cambodia - the city next to the spectacular temples. I took my first day here pretty easy and visited a couple of smaller - more secluded temples. These were still amazing to roam and were peaceful since I nearly had them to myself. Tomorrow I am planning to hire a bike and head off early to the larger, more impressive temples like Angkor Wat. I hear they are huge so I am sure I will have a tiring day. On the 29th I head to Bangkok and then on the 1st March fly back to the UK (no overnight stay in Sri Lanka this time!)
